The Practice

Imaging
Because accurate diagnosis of cardiac disease is critical to effective treatment, Dr. Surkin has brought a Digirad Cardius Nuclear Cardiac Imaging Camera to the people of Eastern North Carolina. Nuclear stress testing is a non-invasive, safe, proven method for evaluating heart disease. This portable heart imaging camera serves Dr. Surkin's patients and is also available to other cardiologists and general practitioners who want to offer their patients the convenience of advanced diagnostic testing within their offices.
Dr. Surkin also utilizes echocardiography or cardiac ultrasound. These non-invasive images of heart function include assessments of cardiac wall motion and the heart valves. This analysis provides Dr. Surkin with essential information that aids in the evaluation of conditions such as shortness of breath, chest pain, dizziness, murmurs and other symptoms that may be related to cardiac disease.
Sleep
Dr.Surkin has advanced training in the evaluation and management of sleep disordered breathing from the Atlanta School of Sleep Medicine and Technology. He has incorporated this in his practice for the past 4 years with great success and has significantly improved the quality of life for his patients with Sleep Apnea.
